Conservation Aide Positions
Two Conservation Aide Positions with the Howard County Conservation Board from May 2026 through August 2026.
One at Lake Hendricks Park in Riceville, the other at Vernon Springs Park in Cresco.
Responsibilities for this position include general park, facilities, and grounds maintenance.

PARK RANGER
The Howard County Conservation Board is accepting applications for a resident Park Ranger at Lake Hendricks Park in Riceville, IA. Responsibilities for this full-time position include Park Ranger duties, maintenance and management of HCCB areas, maintenance of equipment, facilities, grounds, and supervision of seasonal employees.
QUALIFICATIONS: Requirements to include associate degree from an accredited college in natural resources or related field, or equivalent work experience, general knowledge of equipment and vehicle operation, basic carpentry, electrical, plumbing and landscaping skills. The candidate must possess a valid Iowa driver’s license with satisfactory driving record. Must be IA law enforcement certified or able to meet minimum qualifications for certification. Must have good public and human relation skills.

Howard County Recorder’s office is Seeking a Part-time Clerk for afternoon hours.
Applicants must have the ability to perform multiple simultaneous clerical tasks, work as a team player and provide friendly, and quality customer service. Along with strong communication skills, organizational skills, attention to detail along with the ability to read cursive and operate a computer.
Duties include assisting in maintaining accurate records of real estate transactions, issuance of vital records, game licenses, recreational vehicle registrations, and assisting the County Recorder & Deputy in the general operation of the Recorder’s Office.

HELP WANTED
Howard County is seeking a fulltime position as a Maintenance/Custodian at the Howard County Courthouse, Sheriff’s Department and Public Services Building.
Must have own transportation, experience in HVAC, Boiler, automated systems or willing to learn and general knowledge of snow and lawn care and operating maintenance tools and equipment and general custodial duties is preferred.
Salary will be based on experience. The county offers vacation/sick leave, health insurance, IPERS, Life Insurance and Flex Spending.
